I need some input on this situation, i wanna get into..let me know what you think. I work with this guy who has a brother that owns a 87 toyota pick up( i own a 89). they were out four wheelin when they got a flat. they left the rig(no spare) and went to get help. When they returned with a spare tire, someone vandalized his truck(assholes). They put dents in the bed, doors, hood, roof, fenders. They broke all the lights and windows. They smashed the radiator, broke the valve cover and distributor. Slashed the tires, and basically totalled the truck.
The good thing is that the truck is excactly like mine. Which would make it a great parts truck, but this is what i want to do (keep in mind that my truck is STOCK) .The rig has a 4 inch ranchero lift with a 2 in body lift for a IFS. I wanted to convert my truck to a straight axle. But now im thinking i want to put the lift on my good truck and take the totalled truck and make that into my rig. leaving my toyota all nice and lifted( my dd). I got a buddy who has a Toyota junk yard in his backyard and works for auto zone so getting parts for the rig is no problem. This would be great becuase i wouldnt have to worry about getttin the straight axle converstion done in a weekend or saving up all my parts and trying to do it all at once..i could do it little by little.
The downfall is that he still owes 3,000 on the truck. So technically the bank owns it. Now he told me to get the parts i want and to get rid of the frame. He said he is still gonna be paying on the truck so it dont ruin his credit. Which could be BS. Now im not to sure what the bank would do in this situation, would they want the truck so the could total it? He has no insurance on it. Basically this is what i dont want to happen..me buy the rig put all types of money and time into it and then him stop paying on the truck and then the bank wanting to repo it. Now i wouldnt need to register it (not to sure on this either) becuase it would be a trailer queen .it would never touch asphault. So i wouldnt need a title.?.? So ya sorry so long but ive been dealing with this for about a week and i keep tellin him to hold on to it...becuz he wants to part it out. Well thats the story and any input would be helpful thanks.
