Now then.. Every few months we get a scare like this. Somebody wants to close a trail or regulate something or make us pay to wheel or whatever. This time its for real and they are aiming at florence I know there arent a ton of hardcore guys on here but I know theres a few of you and you DO wheel there and you DO know people who use the area. The BLM is trying to close down cottonwood canyon road, which leads into EVERY trail in the florence junction area. They would also like to close box canyon which is the alternative, yet time consuming way in to the are.
ALL I WANT FROM YOU GUYS IS TO TAKE THE TIME TO READ AROUND A BIT AND GET THE STORY STRAIGHT. THIS IS NOT A SCARE THIS TIME AND WE MUST TAKE ACTION.
We will need people to become educated on the subject and show up to meetings.
Also, as with any retarded never ending struggle we will need money. I plan to have a paypal account set up to take donations and there is a parts swap meet/rig wash in the near futire. We are also planning on getting a few of the local shops involved and making flyers and such.
Im looking to become VERY invoved in this, but I ask very little of you. Please please please read the information & let others know.
I have a ton more info and Ill post up more as I can gather it & put it into words I can understand haha

We don't need anyone shooting, ramming, tearing, trashing, etc any of our trails.

Lifted from undertakers:
Francisco J. Mendoza Outdoor Recreation Planner 12661 E. Broadway Blvd. Tucson, AZ 85748 PH(520) 258-7226 FAX(520) 258-7238
dear mr mendoza:
on behalf of the undertakers off-road club, i would like to address the situation at hand in the florence area pertaining to off-road activity. so many rumors are floating around as to the closing of portions and/or all of the area to off-road use. we are very upset with this proposal and want to participate in any decisions that might be made towards this closing of our public lands.
our club, along with many others, frequent the beautiful area of what we chose to call the "florence junction" area in order to enjoy our days off doing what we love to do, that which is known as off-roading. we have all spent thousands of hard earned dollars on our "toys" for this hobby and take pride in what we do. we are a close-knit group and communicate with each other any news that pertains to our sport.
we are all well aware of the area and it's tender habitat that must be protected, thus the "tread lightly" attitude we all take with us to the trail each and every time we visit the florence junction area. we are also aware of those people that do not tread lightly and deface the land that we care so much about. trash, graffitti, abandoned vehicles are all left behind by those individuals that don't frequent the area but make that one trip out to deface our land. unfortunately these individuals are not apprehended by the law enforcement agencies and continue to destroy our public lands. it is the actions of these people that are endangering the off-road clubs future use of the land.
the florence junction area has some fabulous history amongst it including some of the largest displays of indian petroglyphs in the western united states. other historical sites available are several old mines and remnants of mining structures including those in martinez canyon. the off-road enthusiast population respect these landmarks and would never think of defacing them.
the flora and fauna in the florence junction area is of course fragile, as in any other arid desert land. again, the off-road community respects the living entity of the area and would never think of harming the balance of nature. we love this land. this land is OURS and YOURS to enjoy for today, tomorrow and for the future.
here is a list of things we do when visiting this land:
1. stay on already pre-established roads or in washes.
2. pick up any others trash when we see it.
3. clean-up any engine spills when applicable.
here are a list of things we DON'T do:
1. we do not leave the beaten path and carve new roads.
2. we do not shoot weapons and leave a litter of targets and spent cartridges.
3. we do not deface the land with litter and graffitti.
4. we do not kill wildlife or steal plants and rocks.
what we want, is to be able to continue using our public land for which it was intended. that being a habitat-friendly recreational use for which we believe the off-roading sport applies. we are all grown adults who know right from wrong and deeply respect the land for which we and our ancestors have fought for all these years. please don't take this land away from us.

Are we in need of sending out our own letters or letters from the club also? If so that is a good start in the format for a letter. Thanks.

Be very careful about even joking on a public forum. I KNOW from an experience we had on a dirtbike site I frequent that the greenies monitor offroad websites. They have no problem using quotes or posts out of context to make us look as bad as they can. You know how much they lie and twist the truth anyway, lets not give them any more ammo to use against us.

Well yeah. Seriously that is what I meant by a good format to start with. It gives the basic idea of what we need to do.

Now we're hearing that Francisco hates letter and will only lash out at us. Something is seriously wrong with the system. Basically, we can do nothing.
